I am an instructor of recreational SCUBA and diving first aid in the United Kingdom. Having used the Pocket BVM and the Pocket BVM with 02 tubing for training in both the classroom and onsite, I am convinced that they have a place in diving resuscitation.
Traditional BVMs are not covered in our protocol as they are too bulky and too fragile to be available and functional when required in a UK diving emergency and therefore the Pocket BVM offers a superior alternative to a pocket mask for oxygen enriched rescue breaths. I recommend them to local sub-aqua clubs to be included in their oxygen first aid kit.
